Master Sharpener
What does Homeschooling look like for you today? Today I'm Master Sharpener as we go through and sharpen all of our colored pencils for the school year. Sometimes I'm the enforcer, sometimes I'm the chauffeur, other times I'm the referee, cuddler, jail warden, bug hunter, chef, maid, nurse, gardener, Lego builder... You name it. And that's all before my husband gets home and I add wife to that list with all that entails.
As my pastor reminded us this Sunday, God gives us today what we need to get through this day. Not tomorrow, not the weekend, today. So take that grace, that portion, that He has given you today and zone in on this day. Don't let your worries about tomorrow or the future to take from today's portion and rob this day of what it could be.
I feel like God’s really trying to remind me of this because in my quiet time this morning I found notes from a Lamentations study I went through over a decade ago that had some of the same thoughts in it… Lamentations 3:24 talks about the Lord being our portion. The Levites HAD to rely on God for their portion because they had no land — we should rely on God was such dependency for our portion to give us what we need and provide for us instead of relying on ourselves. That includes physical needs, yes, but also this includes the grace and patience to homeschool, to parent, to be the best that you can. It isn’t up to us to use brute strength to get through each day, something I am guilty of time and time again, but we are to trust God for our portion. Trust God with today and all that will happen in it.
